Thoughtful Construction

Every yoga bolster features a three-layer design that balances durability with conscious craftsmanship:

Natural Buckwheat Hull Filling: Provides responsive support that molds to your body while maintaining structural integrity

Refillable by Design — Our bolsters are designed to last a lifetime. When your filling needs a top up, simply purchase additional Australian buckwheat hull from us directly and refresh your bolster rather than replacing it entirely. No waste, no landfill.

Washable & Replaceable Covers — Our GOTS certified organic cotton covers are fully removable and machine washable, extending the life of your bolster indefinitely. When you want a fresh look, simply swap the cover — not the whole bolster.

Buckwheat Hull Over Kapok — We chose Australian buckwheat hull over imported kapok for good reason. Kapok is heavy, imported from overseas, and compresses permanently over time. Buckwheat hull is a local agricultural byproduct, lightweight, resilient, and bounces back — less fuel, less emissions, better performance.

Limited Production Runs — We deliberately produce in small, limited runs to avoid overproduction and waste. We only make what we believe we can sell, based on real customer demand. This means less excess, less waste, and more intentional production.

Designed for Longevity — Every MOBECO product is designed to last, not to be replaced. From the high-quality calico lining to the durable organic cotton canvas cover, we build products that serve you for years — not seasons.

Local Manufacturing — Building every bolster by hand on the Gold Coast means shorter supply chains, fewer transport emissions, and direct quality control. What's made locally stays accountable locally.

GOTS Certified Organic Cotton — Organic cotton farming uses up to 91% less water and emits up to 94% fewer greenhouse gases than conventional cotton farming. By choosing GOTS certified cotton, we're actively reducing the environmental footprint of every product we make.

Minimal Plastic Packaging — We ship in cardboard boxes sealed with paper tape. Where protective packaging is unavoidable for smaller items, we salvage recycled plastic bags from going to landfill and give them a second life. Nothing new, nothing unnecessary.

Biodegradable Materials — Our organic cotton covers and buckwheat hull filling are both natural and biodegradable. When your MOBECO products eventually reach the end of their life, they return to the earth rather than sitting in landfill for centuries like synthetic alternatives.

Hessian Delivered Buckwheat — Our Queensland buckwheat hull arrives to us in hessian bags — completely plastic free from source to our workshop.

No Overpackaging — What arrives to us safely gets passed directly to you without additional repackaging. We don't add layers of unnecessary packaging, tags, or wrapping just to make things look pretty. Simple, minimal, intentional.

Future Sustainability Goals — As a small business, we are constantly evolving our sustainability practices. We are committed to continuing to find better, more sustainable solutions across every aspect of our supply chain — from sourcing to shipping — as we grow.

See more about our commitment to sustainability.

Vegan Owned & Operated — Every product, material, and process at MOBECO is 100% vegan including the sole owner and operator Rach, who is committed to a fully vegan lifestyle. No animal products, no exceptions.

No Animal Testing — We have never tested on animals and never will.

GOTS Certified Organic Cotton — Our covers are made from GOTS certified organic cotton sourced from India, guaranteeing ethical production, fair working conditions, and zero harmful chemicals from farm to finished product.

Australian Buckwheat Hull — Our bolsters are filled with buckwheat hull sourced locally from Queensland, saved from agricultural waste and given a second life rather than going to landfill.

Handmade Locally — Every bolster is hand-built right here on the Gold Coast by one person with care and intention.

Natural Vegan Dyes — All of our colours are created using natural, vegan-friendly dyes. No toxic chemicals, no synthetic colourants.

Minimal Plastic Packaging — We ship in simple cardboard boxes sealed with paper tape. Where smaller items require protective packaging, we salvage and reuse recycled plastic bags that would otherwise go to landfill — giving them a second life rather than adding to the problem.

Female Owned & Solely Operated — MOBECO is proudly female owned and run entirely by one person. No employees, no investors — just one woman building something meaningful from the ground up.

Supporting Gaia's Serenity Animal Sanctuary — We are dedicated supporters of Gaia's Serenity Animal Sanctuary in Queensland, contributing our time, skills, finances, and more to an organisation doing vital work protecting and caring for animals.

Reducing Our Carbon Footprint — From sourcing buckwheat hull locally in Queensland to handbuilding every product on the Gold Coast, every decision we make is guided by one question: how can we reduce our impact? Less travel miles, less waste, less harm.

Frequent Asked Questions

Our colours are released in limited edition runs and we periodically refresh our range based on customer demand and seasonal inspiration. If the colour you're after isn't currently available, it may return in the future — but we can't guarantee it, so if you see a colour you love, we recommend grabbing it while you can!

The good news? Our bolster covers are sold separately, which means you can purchase a bolster now in one of our available colours and simply add your preferred cover when it becomes available. Your bolster will last for years — the cover is just the beginning.

Stay in the loop: Join our email list to be the first to know when new and returning colours drop. We announce limited edition releases to our subscribers first.

Our yoga bolsters are filled with Australian buckwheat hull, sourced locally from Queensland. Buckwheat hull is a natural byproduct of the buckwheat industry, meaning we're giving material a second life rather than sending it to waste.

Unlike kapok fibre filling imported from overseas, buckwheat hull is naturally resilient and will bounce back to its original shape after use. It molds to your body during practice while maintaining its structure, providing the perfect balance of support and comfort.

And here's something most other brands can't offer: if your bolster ever needs a top up over time, we sell additional buckwheat hull filling separately so you can refresh your bolster rather than replace it entirely. It's sustainability in action.

Why not kapok?

Kapok is a popular filling used by many yoga bolster brands, but it's imported from overseas — adding unnecessary shipping weight and fuel emissions to the supply chain. It also compresses permanently over time and can't be topped up or sourced easily in Australia. Buckwheat hull is simply the better choice for your body, your practice, and the planet. Our yoga bolster currently comes in one size — 65cm long x 20cm round — and we've found this to be the perfect dimensions for the vast majority of practices and body types.

This size is generous enough to fully support the spine during restorative poses, comfortable for chest opening and backbends, and versatile enough to use for everyday support whether you're reading, feeding a baby, or propping yourself up during relaxation.

Functionally, the round shape molds to almost any position your body needs. It's versatile. It covers all the bases. Whether you're practicing yin yoga, restorative poses, gentle backbends, or using it for everyday comfort and support, the round bolster adapts to what you need in that moment. There's no unnecessary angles or awkward edges working against you. Read More.

We're a small, locally owned Australian business and while we'd love to offer every possible size and option, it simply isn't sustainable or practical for us to do so. Instead of spreading ourselves thin, we've focused on perfecting one ideal shape and size that works beautifully for almost everyone — and we're proud of that decision.

We believe in doing fewer things really well rather than many things average. One perfect bolster, made with intention, right here on the Gold Coast.

While our yoga bolster excels in traditional yin yoga practice—supporting deep stretches and meditative holds—its versatility extends far beyond the studio. A yoga bolster is one of the most underrated props in the wellness world, quietly serving bodies of all ages, shapes, and lifestyles in ways most people never consider.

For New Parents

A bolster is an unexpected essential in those early months. Use it to support your arms during breastfeeding, prop baby safely during tummy time, or create a gentle barrier on elevated surfaces. It reduces the physical strain of new parenthood in simple, practical ways.

For Children

Most children slouch when watching screens or reading. A bolster placed on the floor gives them a comfortable prop that naturally opens their chest and encourages better posture — without asking them to sit up straight. Good habits made effortless.

For Yin Yoga

Yin yoga requires long, supported holds that allow the body to fully surrender into each pose. A bolster placed under the spine, knees, or torso removes the tension that prevents deep release — making every pose more accessible and more effective.

For Daily Comfort

You don't need to be on a yoga mat to benefit. Use your bolster for lumbar support while working from home, chest opening after a long day at a screen, leg elevation during rest, or as a meditation seat that makes cross-legged sitting genuinely comfortable.

For Pregnancy, Elderly, Disabled & Injury or Surgery Recovery

A yoga bolster is a surprisingly powerful tool for anyone who needs a little extra support in daily life — not just on the yoga mat.

Comfortable Seating Support — Placed behind the lower back in a chair or on the couch, a bolster provides gentle lumbar support that makes sitting for extended periods far more comfortable. A simple addition that makes a meaningful difference.

Getting Up & Down from the Floor — For anyone who finds transitioning from the floor to standing challenging, a bolster provides a stable, supportive surface to push up from — making the process safer and more manageable.

Sleep & Rest Support — Placed under the knees while lying on your back, a bolster relieves pressure on the lower back and hips during sleep or rest. Tucked alongside the body, it provides a comforting barrier that supports the hips and reduces rolling during the night.

Couch & Bed Comfort — Whether propped under the arms, behind the back, or between the knees, a bolster helps the body find a more supported and comfortable resting position — particularly helpful for anyone managing pain, stiffness, or limited mobility.

Gentle Body Positioning — For anyone recovering from injury or managing a condition that makes certain positions uncomfortable, a bolster can be repositioned and adapted to support almost any part of the body — offering a gentle, versatile solution to everyday comfort.

How to clean your MOBECO yoga bolster:

A: Cleaning your yoga bolster is simple. Start by removing the organic cotton cover — we recommend doing this outside as there may be some buckwheat hull residue between the liner and the cover, which is completely normal. Machine wash the cover on a gentle cold cycle with mild detergent and air dry completely before putting it back on.

For the calico lining, brush off any buckwheat residue by hand or with a soft brush. Spot clean any stains with a mild detergent and water using a soft cloth — avoid soaking the lining. Allow it to air dry thoroughly before reassembling.

How to clean your MOBECO cork yoga mat and props?

After every use, spray your cork yoga mat or props with an alcohol-based spray and wipe down with a microfibre cloth to remove sweat, dirt, and natural oils. For a deeper monthly clean, gently scrub the surface with warm soapy water using a soft brush, wipe clean with a damp microfibre cloth, and allow to air dry completely flat. Always store your mat in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight.
